【英語は文脈の not をカウントしない】
👉さあ、ここで「ええ、私たちは違います」という日本語訳になっていましたね。
英語は文脈の中の not をカウントしない言葉です。 You’re not from England と
言われたからといって、ここを Yes にする必要はないんですね。
そう、違うんだったら No です。ですから、No, we’re not. となっているわけです。

② The steak and chips is very good. 【 one item, one set であれば単数形 】
👉 Hey, David. Why is “the steak and chips” singular?
David ▶︎ Ah, that’s easy. “Steak and chips” is the name of a plate.
So it’s one item, it’s one set. So it’s singular.

③ He is a … pilot. 【 pilot の意味 】
👉 pilot と言うのは、「水先案内人」と言う意味もとっているんですね。

to mean “equals.” So the subject and the 説明語句 are the same, or maybe not the same.
