Opening

Onishi
▶︎ Ummm, love is in the air, right?

David
▶︎ Are you sure it’s love, and not just 金木犀?

Onishi
▶︎ What do you mean,

David
▶︎ Oh, it’s that time of year, so.

Roza
▶︎ Akino Roza here.

Daivd
▶︎ And I’m David Evans.

Dialogue

It’s been so hot recently.【

But I prefer hot weather to really cold weather.【 prefer A to B の構造
👉さあ、prefer A to B – BよりもA を好き、というフレーズが出てきました。
to really cold weather

Where were you born, William?【 be born

Not in the slightest. not in the slightest
not in the slightest

Pronunciation Polish

David
▶︎ All right, everyone. It’s time for today’s “Pronunciation Polish.”
Let’s jump right in with today’s pharse.
・Have you ever been there?
・Have you ever been there?

All right.
Today’s question is super hi – frequency.
So let’s master it. So you can use it in your everyday conversation.
First up is “have.”
The /h/ sound will disappear.
Let’s try.
have, have

Very nice.
Next up the /u:/ sound in “you”
Let’s shorten that up.
you, you

Put them together.
have you, have you

All right.
Next up the “been there.”
The “n” sound and “th” sound will disappear.
been there, been there

All right.
Let’s put it together at first, and then speed up.
・Have you ever been there?
・Have you ever been there?

All right.
And a little more natural.
・Have you ever been there?

All right.
Because this is high-frequency,
you’ll hear a native speaker this very quicikly.
“Have you ever been there?”
You don’t have to master that speed just yet,
but let’s get used to it.
Great work today.

Ending

Onishi
▶︎ Hey, guys. When you get stuck in traffic, what do you do in the car?

David
▶︎ Honestly, it’s time to cranck up so music and practice my karaoke.

Onishi
▶︎ How about you, Roza?

Roza
▶︎ Well, I mean I do that regularly even when there’s no traffic.
So it’s the same for me.

David
▶︎ What about you, Sensei? What do you do?

David
▶︎ I do that too! (Oh, really
It’s really, like the left side minus the right side, but ..
Yeah, I play that for the kids too.

Onishi
▶︎ Oh, really?
